The « Ingénieurs des Industries Chimiques » Diploma (I2C)
The Ingénieur des Industries Chimiques diploma offers a cursus composed of a common core of 3 semesters (S5, S6, and S7) including a mandatory industrial placement. This brings together all the basic aspects of a chemical and physical-chemistry engineer, as well as those needed for chemical engineering and process engineering in general. During semester 8, the engineer student will be asked to choose a field of specialty:
- « Process, Energy, Environment » courses
- « Innovative Products » courses
- « Biotechnologies » courses
After semester 8, a 3-month period is free in order to allow students to take courses abroad or to carry out another industrial placement.
From semester 9 onwards, a student engineer can continue :
- In the specialized chosen branch
- By alternating academic studies and work, whilst being under contract with, and being paid by, the company
- In a foreign university
- In another school of Fédération Gay Lussac (FGL)
- In Institut National des Sciences et Techniques du Nucléaire (INSTN)
- In IFP School via an apprenticeship
- The double degree IAE « Engineer-Manager » in partnership with the Institut Supérieur d'Administration et de Management de Nancy (ISAM-IAE).
One full semester (Semester 9) is taught in English for the following academic specialisations:- Process Engineering for Energy and Environment
- Innovative Products - from Chemistry to Process
A 6-month engineer industrial placement with a company has to be carried out during the third year, in semester 10. Finally, a two-month period has to be dedicated to a Research Project that can be done either in a research lab in France, abroad, or with a company. These two activities (an engineering industrial placement and a Research Project) are subject to a specific supervision and evaluation.
